Hollering at Common

Written by on November 26, 2007

CommonGotta big-up my boy Common for his accomplishments at the BET Hip-Hop Awards this year, as he snagged a statue for Best CD and one for Lyricist of the Year.

They didn’t “India Arie” him this time around as he took home his first awards ever after a fourteen year long career.

All from old-boy who peed in Avalon Park’s pool (I’m never gonna let that line go).

The Chi-town Hip-Hop superstar (Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr.) has been busy in “The Business” as of late… and all I wanna ask him is… “Can I Borrow A Dollar?”

I think Dilla would be proud of you cuz…

I recall having “Take It Easy” in very heavy rotation back in the day on the Gemini BD-40’s (don’t sleep on the old-school belt drive turntables still set up in my living room).

Peep game back when most dope Hip-Hop was independent and underground, when there weren’t many hooks, if any at all. It’s called a freestyle sko… and all you really needed were breaks in the beat, so the DJ would have space to mix in the next jam. Click here to check the video…

Oh, how it has changed… but I’m still lovin’ it!
