Movie Review: Star Trek

Written by on June 1, 2009

It’s definitely worth the price of admission to see the latest Star Trek movie. You do not have to be a Trekkie, and even little kids that have never ever heard of Star Trek will enjoy this film.

Tyler Perry actually has a small roll in this film, and it caught me off guard than a mug.  Don’t worry, Medea does not get beamed up to the Enterprise to shoot up the crew.  Thankfully. This was his first role outside of one of his own projects.

This cool, new, hip production covers the Star Trek crew on their first journey together and it shows how Captain Kirk became Captain Kirk.  They could’ve called it “Star Trek Begins” along side of the likes of “Batman Begins” because of how they tell the story from scratch like we have never seen it.

The light-hearted approach works perfectly.  Near the beginning of the flick, the soon to be Captain Kirk is getting it on with a green chick.  No joke.  If you’re a Trekkie and an Eddie Murphy fan, then eat your heart out.

Leonard Nimoy is in the film, playing the original Dr. Spock… and it works.

Zoe Saldana moves up my list of women I wanna bone with her portrayal of Nyota Uhura. Originally, she kicked it with the Captain, but this Uhura has eyes for someone else…

Nice job on the Star Trek movie!
