On Monday, quarterback Philip Rivers & the San Diego Chargers agreed to a 6 year, $92 million contract extension that will keep the 4th overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft in San Diego through 2015.

The deal comes after a spectacular 2008 campaign for Rivers, as he reached career-highs in pass completions (312), pass attempts (478), completion percentage (65.3%), passing yardage (4,009), passing yards per game (250.6) & passing touchdowns (34).

Despite Rivers’ superb year, he did not earn a Pro Bowl selection last season, as Brett Favre made it over him despite his league-high 22 interceptions.

Behind their 27-year old quarterback, the San Diego Chargers have made postseason appearences in each of the last 3 seasons, which is the first time in franchise history since 1981-83 under the legendary Dan Fouts.
