The Cleveland Browns are confusing me..

Ok, so i was at Buffalo Wild Wings last night in Hoffman Estates with some buddies and happened to see ESPN report that free-agent quarterback Jake Delhomme has signed with the Cleveland Browns.

How do you think Brady Quinn is feeling about this right now?

Not too good considering that Cleveland has already traded for Seneca Wallace, who was Holmgren’s backup quarterback during his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

My question to Holmgren is this. Why not give Quinn a fair chance?

The kid is only 25 and he helped jumpstart the Browns’ season-ending 4 game win streak with a victory last December 10th against the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers on National TV.

He also showed great promise in two other games with a 21-for-33, 304 yard & 4 touchdown outing against Detroit (Lost 38-37) & a 25-for-45, 271 yard & 3 touchdown outing against San Diego (Lost 30-23).

Yes, Quinn’s best two games as a pro didn’t result in any wins. However, he showed that he can indeed be a good quarterback when his job security is safe, which no longer appears to be the case now.

Jake Delhomme’s last game with 3 touchdown passes or more? September 16th, 2007.

Give Quinn a chance to win the starting job before Holmgren runs him out of town. He’s never been given a fair shot there since he’s been bouncing in & out of the lineup with Derek Anderson, but Derek’s depature should mean promising things for the Golden Boy.

Hopefully, Mike Holmgren & Eric Mangani are echoing the same semtiments.
