Kansas State outlasts Xavier in double overtime!

Written by on March 26, 2010

In an instant classic Sweet 16 matchup, Jacob Pullen hit two clutch three-pointers in the second overtime to help Kansas State beat Xavier 101-96 on Thursday evening.

It never would have gotten into a 2nd overtime without some incredible heroics from Xavier’s Jordan Crawford, who drilled a 35-foot three in the closing seconds to tie the game at 87.

Both teams acknowledged the extremely high level of competitiveness in this one, as Pullen said that “it was two teams that didn’t want their season to end.”

Even in defeat, Xavier head coach Chris Mack said that the double OT thriller “was good as a game as i’ve ever coached or been a part of”.

Sophmore guard Jordan Crawford led the Musketeers with 32 points in defeat, while sophomore guard Terrell Holloway added 26 points & 6 assists.

Kansas State is now one step away from earning their first Final Four berth since 1988, as they will play Butler on Saturday evening for a trip to Indianapolis.
