Chicago man gets 34 years for soliciting ex-wife’s murder

A Chicago man who thought he was hiring a hit man to kill his ex-wife but was in fact dealing with an undercover DuPage County sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to 34 years in prison today, officials said.
Johnson,-Johnthis.jpgJohn Johnson, 42, of the 5800 block of Adams Street, was found guilty by a jury in April of solicitation of murder, a Class X felony.
Johnson was serving time in the DuPage County Jail after being accused of violating an order of protection that had been taken out by his ex-wife, who lived in Lombard.
While in jail, he attempted through another inmate to arrange for a hit man to murder the woman. When authorities learned of the plot through a cooperating individual, the undercover deputy, posing as the hit man, contacted Johnson, who offered $3,000 for the murder.
The undercover officer received instructions from Johnson to put “two slugs to the head. Real quick. In a hurry.” (Chicago Breaking)
