The NFL’s first overall draft pick has agreed to his first pro deal, as St. Louis Rams’ rookie quarterback Sam Bradford will sign a 6 year contract that will be worth up to $78 million.

$50 million of it will be guaranteed, which makes it the highest-ever in NFL history.

He will have to fight for the starting job though, as he’s currently ranked 2nd on the team’s depth chart behind veteran A.J. Feeley.

The Rams are hoping that Bradford provides a major punch to an offense that scored just 10.9 points per game last season (last in NFL) despite having All-Pro running back Steven Jackson.

He’ll also try to bounce back from a shoulder injury, which limited him to just 3 games last season in his final collegiate season with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Prior to that, he led the nation with 48 touchdown passes in 2008 which led him to winning the Heisman Trophy.
