Cubs hire Mike Quade as manager..

Written by on October 20, 2010

Thanks to a strong 2009 finish, Mike Quade will get the “interim” tag removed.

The Chicago Cubs named the 53-year old Evanston native as their manager through 2013 on Tuesday after finishing 24-13 following Lou Piniella’s retirement, which was the 2nd best mark in baseball only behind the Philadelphia Phillies.

Quade almost got the managerial job in October of 2006, but he lost out to Piniella.

Quade brings plenty of minor & major league experience to the Cubs, as he served as bench coach staff during their 2003 playoff run.

He will try to lead the Cubs back to the postseason in 2011 following a 2-year hiatus.
