Red Sox trade for slugger Adrian Gonzalez..

Written by on December 5, 2010

Thanks to a blockbuster deal, the Boston Red Sox now have one of the game’s best power-hitting 1st basemen.

3-time All-Star & 2-time Gold Glove winner Adrian Gonzalez will be slugging out homers at Fenway Park next season, as the San Diego Padres will receive prospects Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo & Raymond Fuentes in return.

Gonzalez is one of baseball’s most prized power hitters, as he’s hit at least 30 home runs and driven in 95 runs or more for each of his last 4 seasons in San Diego.

He has also been one of the Majors’ best defensive first baseman, as he’s committed 10 errors or less in each of his past 5 seasons.

Gonzalez has homered in 7 of the 9 different American League ballparks he’s played in prior to Saturday’s trade, with the only two exceptions being Camden Yards  & Oakland Coliseum.
