Monta Ellis was the star on Christmas night, as he scored 39 points to go with 7 assists as the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 109-102 from Oracle Arena.

Ellis’ big game made up for his struggling teammate Stephen Curry’s lackluster performance, as he scored just 4 points on 2-of-15 shooting, but did hand out 11 assists.

Portland head coach Nate McMillian appreciated Ellis’ big night, as that now gives him 119 points scored in his last 3 games:

“He’s very aggressive. He can flat out score. He’s fearless going to the basket. When he has his jump shot going it’s very tough to defend him, and he had it going early.’

David Lee added 21 points, 7 rebounds & 5 assists while Dorrell Wright scored 16 points & grabbed 8 rebounds for Golden State.

Wesley Mathews led Portland with 25 points, as Nicolas Batum added 18 points & 10 rebounds for a Trail Blazers team that lost despite outrebounding the Warriors 53-32.
