Lakers re-sign Lamar Odom

Written by on August 1, 2009

The defending champion Los Angeles Lakers retained a key member on Friday, as they agreed to a $33 millon, 4 year deal with free-agent forward Lamar Odom.

The deal comes after weeks of speculation that Odom would take less money to sign with the Miami Heat, whom he spent one season with (2003-04) which was ironically during Dwyane Wade’s rookie season.

Lamar has spent his last 5 seasons with the Lakers & is coming off career-lows in points per game (11.6) & free-throw percentage (62.3%), as he made just 32 starts for his lowest total since 2001.

Los Angeles hopes that the re-signing of Odom along with forward Ron Artest will be enough to lift the Lakers to a 2nd straight championship win next June.
