Fenway fracas: Youkilis, Porcello ejected for fighting

He had been plunked on Monday by Edwin Jackson & did not retaliate for it.

On Tuesday evening, Boston Red Sox 1st baseman Kevin Youkilis decided that enough is enough.

After being hit in the back by a 2nd inning pitch, Youkilis charged the mound towards Detroit Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello & flung his helmet at him, as the twosome wrestled eachother to the ground.

Tuesday’s incident came a little over 14 months since the infamous James Shields/Coco Crisp brawl, which was also at Fenway Park.

No player from either side chose to talk about the Youkilis/Porcello brawl, but Mike Lowell entered the game & hit 2 big home runs to help Boston win 7-5.

Entering Wednesday’s action, the Red Sox are back 5.5 games in the AL East but hold a 1.5 game Wild Card lead over the Texas Rangers.

The Tigers currently hold a 2 game lead in the AL Central over the Chicago White Sox.

Boston manager Terry Francona was later ejected in the 2nd inning for arguing a steal against J.D. Drew, who was called out trying to swipe 2nd base.
